Biography:
Mattia De Luca was born in Rome in 1985. He has been passionate about music since he was a child, and is a self-taught singer and piano player. He graduated from the Marymount School of Rome, where he developed an excellent knowledge of English. At the age of 18, Mattia moved to Boston to attend the Berklee College of Music, pursuing his dream of a career as a singer-songwriter.
Founded in 1945, the Berklee College of Music has educated students who have won Grammys and Oscars, such as Steve Vai, Quincy Jones, Diana Krall, Howard Shore (an Oscar for the score for "The Lord of the Rings: the Fellowship of the Ring" in 2002, and "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" in 2004), and Melissa Etheridge.
During his college years, Mattia was a member of the permanent choir at “Berklee Performance Center”, the core of Boston's cultural community. He specialized in composition, and in 2007 he earned his degree with excellent marks. Once he completed his studies, Mattia moved to Los Angeles, where he had a number of formative experiences in the field of music, experimenting with and taking part in projects by other artists.
In 2008 he returned to Italy and met Phil Palmer, a world-famous rock and jazz guitarist, who has played with, among others, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Tina Turner, George Michael, Elton John, Robbie Williams, Dire Straits, and in Italy with Lucio Battisti (he plays the solo in “Con il nastro rosa”) and Francesco De Gregori. Phil Palmer and Mattia began working together on pre-production of new tracks from the Roman artist. During these sessions, Mattia met and collaborated with Peter Gordeno (Depeche Mode) and Joe Cang who helped him compose.
In the spring of that same year, Mattia met Caterina Caselli Sugar, who instantly sensed his unquestionable talent and solid musical training, and decided to produce his first record project. Mattia De Luca signed as an artist and composer exclusively with Sugar.
Mattia De Luca will be at the 60th Sanremo Festival in the “SANREMO NUOVA GENERAZIONE”section with the song “NON PARLARE PIÙ”, which was composed by Mattia De Luca and written with Francesco Tricarico. The track was produced by Phil Palmer, as was the entire debut album, “DREAMERS”, arranged by Mattia himself along with Phil Palmer. The album features eleven songs and two bonus tracks, includes tracks in both English and Italian.
