Andrea Mariano
Biografia
Andrea Mariano was born in Copertino (Lecce) on March 26th, 1978. He started studying music at age 7 and developed a passion for the piano(although around the age of fifteen, he also took an interest in the drums, which he was soon forced to abandon for logistical reasons and for the sake of public peace). His passion for electronicmusic has roots in Italian prog rock of the 1970s (Le Orme, PFM, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso), rock blues and psychedelia (The Doors, Pink Floyd).
At age 11, he enrolled at the Tito Schipa conservatory in Lecce, which he attended for nine years. While still a teenager, he cultivated his passion by playing with numerous bands in Salento clubs.
After high school went to Law school, but his yearning to “live and breathe music completely” led him to leave college and skip the final exam at the Conservatory in 2000, the year when he and 5 of his friends decided to form the band Negramaro.
He is behind the electronic intros performed at every concert in the most recent tours by negramaro, and he also created the B-side on the single “Parlami d’amore: RMX Andro.i.d. version".
Like all musicians, he has his own favorite instruments, and has a penchant for synths, vintage keyboards (which he uses in his electronic productions): namely moog synths (Prodigy, Voyager, Memorymoog and Theremin) and Kawai pianos.
Andrea has already performed live sets in some of Italy's most prestigious clubs (using only a drum machine and a synth in real time)
