The most popular song in 2016 at Christmas was without doubt “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”, thanks to the Esselunga supermarket chain and their Christmas promotion (which ended on Christmas Eve). This cheerful song was played every time customers collected the prize they had won.

“I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” is a famous children’s song written by John Rox, sung by Gayla Peevey (who was 10 years old at the time) and released back in 1953.
