Sophie Ottone, known by her stage name soap, was born in Rome in 2005 and raised in Latina. 
Her relationship with music began in childhood, and over time she started writing her first lyrics, driven by a desire to express both the melancholy she carries inside and a sense of renewal. 

Sophie officially became soap on September 15, 2022—the release date of her first independent single, a manifesto of both sound and aesthetic perfectly aligned with Gen Z sensibilities. A few months later, she began working with Pulp Entertainment, releasing domani forse and macchina argento in early 2023—tracks that caught attention and received positive feedback. 

In the second half of 2023, soap released two more singles: via del corso and cuori in pista. In January 2024, she dropped cercavi di più, followed by parole violente in March. That same year, she was selected as one of the 20 Italian artists in VEVO Newcomers, and was featured in Rockit’s CBCR list. She also opened the 18th edition of the MI AMI Festival in May.
